The Tennessee Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) is a chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). If you live in Tennessee and join APTA, you automatically become a member of TPTA and your local district.
In order to become a member, you must have graduated from an accredited PT or PTA program. Students may become members if they are enrolled in a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant program that is accredited or has been granted candidate status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (see qualifications on application).

Q: My coworker is interested in joining APTA. However,
she lives in a different state than we work in. Is
there a way for her to become active in both chapters?
A: Yes! Your
colleague will need to choose which chapter will be her main
chapter. This will be the chapter in which she has full
voting rights. Then, she can become a Corresponding Member of
another chapter. As a Corresponding Member, she is
able to attend meetings, speak and debate on chapter issues,
receive all chapter publications and correspondence, and have
access to chapter information resources (web site, etc.). Each
chapter has different dues for this membership category; refer
to the back of the membership application, visit the APTA website,
or call the Membership Department at 800/9992782, ext. 3124
